Lynda Barry =]

Lynda Barry was at our very own Tyler School of Art on March 23, 2010. She is a hilarious person! She was crazy and told some pretty hilarious jokes. Born in Wisconsin, Lynda Barry grew up always drawing. Soon she began to write two books but then make a decision that it would be easier to draw them instead! Barry used her childhood as inspiration for her comics and art. She talked of a story where she once thought her mother was monster! She also talked about some pretty interested psychological aspects of children. She mentioned that children are in a different state of mind when they play. She also told us that art needs to be nurtured, which was a different way of thinking about art. I enjoyed having her read her book to us because it was personal and exciting to hear her tone of voice. All in all it was a great lecture that I think everyone enjoyed.

This image was created using Photoshop. All of the elements are from my summer trip to Europe. The background is mountains in Austria. The castle is from London and I added Big Ben from there also to make them one. I also used a horse from the changing of the gaurds ceremony as well. David in the top right corner is from Venice, and lastly the turtle is from a zoo we visited in Germany. I also used several of the effects from Photoshop that we learned in class.

Current Event Project

This project incorporates two images and using the program Photoshop to combine them to make an ironic image. In this case I used the classic photo of the members of the view and took out Whoopie Goldberg and replaced her with Howard Stern thus creating a picture that could have been taking but probably would never.
